Juve's loss due to our midfield giving up way too much space for guys like Kaka, Gattuso, Pirlo - Camoranesi has been very poor for the last 3 games and he continues to be off mark, poor timing in battles, poor passes. Capello is making a mistake by not taking him out after 20 min of play, but instead after the 50th minute. Camo is not performing and Capello really needs to substitute much faster and sooner. Viera obvioulsy was not himself. First game after his injury and you can't expect him to do his classic midfield pushing. His ability to push up is the key to a strong functioning midfield against strong teams. Nedved? Besides his single shot (30min) he was also disfunctional in terms of syncronizing with a structured play setup.
Juve lacked the tight, controlled structured midfield that has given them the wins thus far. Its from the midfield that Juve can FEED the forwards/strikers with balls to work on. Anytime you see Juve shooting longballs from the midfield, either by defenders or midfielders, then you know they lack the usual structure and are more likely to loose a game. They are being forced to shoot longballs becuase the midfield is not strong enough to push up the ball in an organized play. Milan midfielders only needed to collapse with the defence and thus create a Liverpool style of defending after they got their lucky (deflection) 1-0 score. And when they got 2-0, Milan went into a total defense style of fotball with single counter attacks. They had 6-7 defenders in the center and Juve had the stupidity to keep feeding balls into the center, instead of utilizing the sides.
3-0 goal was a show of class difference between a 1st team gollie and 3rd rate gollie. Juve gollie Chimenti is not Buffon or Abbiati.
Bottom line: Juve did not have same intensity as the game in May 2005. Milan played a defensive strategy after the 1-0 goal. Our midfielders were not good at all. Camo should have been sibstituted after 20 min. Viera coming back from an injury. Nedved, just running around with no REAL productive play for strikers. Juves FIRST chance came in the 30th minute - read that again, 30th minute by a Nedved shot assisted by Ibrahimovic. The second chance inside the penalty box was the Juve goal by Trez, other than that, NOTHING. Juve midfielders never managed to setup any structered play for the strikers to work on.
One last note, could you say that the referee was making tons of battle calls for Milan players in the first 30 minutes ? Absolutely. Gattuso should have been given a yellow card on numerous occassions in the first half.

I don't know what's going with Ibra in this season, but he is not playing well - he claimed in an interview with Tuttosport that defenders have learned his game, and that he always gets 2-3 defenders on him. That may be so, but he fails completely to mention that he misses 8 out 10 shots this season. Moreover, he has lost a lot of balls this season...and that sometimes or quite often when there is only one guy on him. For some reason, he doesn't have the same ball control this season as last year. I have made a clear notice of this.
Tony, have you ?
